Easter is my favorite holiday.  I’m kind of an Easter addict.

I love decorating my front gate.

I know, I’m no Clark Griswold of Easter.

But holy deviled eggs, Batman!

This guy sure is!  10,000 eggs!

Plastic or real, today that tree is worth about a billion dollars!

For me, decorating my gate is really more about me carrying on the traditions I grew up with.

We usually spent Easter with my grandparents, who I adored, and cousins, who were my first best friends-oh, how I miss some of those people. Or we would host it at our house.  No matter where we were, Easter Sunday always included an Easter egg hunt.

The Easter Bunny would fill Buckhorn beer, I mean, Shasta soda boxes, with real green grass and wildflowers, and dyed and plastic eggs.

The plastic eggs not only contained candy, but real prizes, like tattoos, jewelry, and money! Of course, when you’re six, that mood ring is way more valuable than a bunch of old silver dollars; that we weren’t allowed to spend until we’re 90.

My favorite Easter memory was spent it at our farm where had tractor pulls. All tied together, uncle Jack drove the John Deere, pulling us kids around the field.  We took turns riding on red wagons and tricycles. However, the most coveted, and fought over “ATV”, was a John Deere green, cast-iron pedal tractor.

Then we had a big family dinner on the back porch of our farm house, stuffing ourselves silly.

Why is it I can remember specific details of an Easter Sunday 50+ years ago, but today, I can’t remember why I walked into my kitchen?

If you are celebrating Easter this year, here are some things to remember.

~It’s about the egg, but it ain’t about the egg.

~Spend it with those you adore, hug their neck, and tell them you adore them!

~When you make Easter memories, make sure they’re the kind you can be proud of.

Don’t be startin’ no family feuds over who ate the last deviled egg.

If you already have Easter memories you’d like to share, I’d love to hear them!

Us Easter addicts gotta stick together!
